Hi friend,

Something for your mahjong wish list

A pretty tile set, a bag for your racks, a little gift for the friend who always hosts... if you've been eyeing something for your mahjong table, this is a good time to pull up that wish list!

Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days are today and tomorrow, October 6 and 7. I've linked my storefront below so you have a place to start browsing my picks. Check each item's current price and Prime offer as you shop, since not every find will be discounted.

TILE WISDOM

Three tiles away. Two different decisions.

Two possible hands each need three more tiles. In one, two of the missing tiles are needed to complete pairs. In the other, all three belong in a kong. Which would you keep working toward?

Before choosing, look at the gaps. Jokers can't fill singles or pairs, but they can help complete a kong. The tile count alone doesn't tell the whole story.

That doesn't automatically make the second hand better. Check the discards and exposures, too. At your next game, try asking, “Which missing tiles have to be natural?” before you commit.
